“Stay away, lad! That’s Prime’s fight!” — Kup, in the original 1986 Transformers animated movie. I just watched Michael Bay’s Transformers movie at the Gateway Globe Platinum Theater. Believe it or not, it’s even more of an abomination than everyone expected it to be — from jumpy editing to fake graphics to gibberish computerspeak to […]Click here to continue reading "Transformers Movie Review: Optimus Prime was Robbed!"...Transformers Movie Review: Optimus Prime was Robbed!

i actually enjoyed the movie… i was kinda put off by first… how different the bots looked compared to the cartoons… and 2nd… by the rather light treatment of the storyline… but i shook off that state of mind and watched the movie… because, that’s why i payed to get in… to see and enjoy the movie right? in fairness though … the 80s animated series does not stick to the original storyline as well… i read somewhere that only the comic series stayed true to the original concept of transformers… especially the personalities of the characters… one example would be shockwave… that ultra cool decepticon who guards cybertron and turns into a lazer gun… in the animated series… he’s this super loyal follower of megatron… almost to the point of becoming a total ass kisser… but on the comics… shockwave was a threat to megatron because he believed HE should be the leader of the decepticons… in fact he did overthrow megatron and became leader… this is more consistent with the original proposed character personalities… a lot of changes were made in the 80s cartoons. that said… i forgive michael bay for some inconsistencies of the movie… heck the cartoons was inconsistent with the original concept also… i did enjoy the movie… and i believe it was worth 120 bucks. 🙂 where else can you see giant robots pounding each other to the ground… and a hot megan fox all in one movie… ehehehe and hearing peter cullen say the classic line “autobots… transform and roll out…” that for me makes it all worth it. 🙂 if every movie should be as consistent to the original to the finest detail… then Schindler’s List would be 6-10 hours long, since they have to show each and everyone on the list and establish their characters. 😀
And even at 56%, if this were a democratic election, the movie’s a winner by majority decision.
So continue your ranting, Mike. In the end, the self-proclaimed Transformers intelligista lost.
When I saw the end of the Death Note anime, I applauded the deviations from the original manga. I don’t mind adaptations deviating from originals as long as the adaptations are good. Bay’s movie is not good.
Nice try at a false analogy, Blahblah. This is entertainment, not politcs — and Bay’s movie is not entertaining.
$152M at the tills has certainly entertained multitudes. Save for a a few elitists.
