Transformers Movie Review: Optimus Prime was Robbed!

“Stay away, lad! That’s Prime’s fight!” — Kup, in the original 1986 Transformers animated movie. I just watched Michael Bay’s Transformers movie at the Gateway Globe Platinum Theater. Believe it or not, it’s even more of an abomination than everyone expected it to be — from jumpy editing to fake graphics to gibberish computerspeak to […]Click here to continue reading "Transformers Movie Review: Optimus Prime was Robbed!"...

There goes Mike, the nitpicker, again. Totally unable to answer a discussion point by point but rather, phrase by convenient phrase.

And up to this point, he still hasn’t answered why he watched the movie in spite of the fact that he is not clueless on its potential to disppoint him.

He isn’t a film critic or reviewer anyway so he is not required to see a particular film no matter how abominable it may be.

But still, he went ahead and watched it. It boggles my mind no end.

“That cop-out won’t work on a film that’s not actually entertaining.”

“Liking a bad movie does not make you stupid. Calling a bad movie a good movie makes you stupid.”

A bad movie and not entertaining enough by what standards, Mike? Yours? So you are implying if a film is bad and not entertaining for you, a film is not entertaining and bad, period.

Talk about self delusions of grandeur.

Spellcheck is right. A critic or film fan or anybody shouldn’t give away spoilers. I am 100% percent against spoilers and if you see my youtube page I highlight that. A person should be able to go to a movie and establish his own opinion.

As for BlahBlah…yes I am a critic. Critics call themselves critics. Same way doctors call themselves doctors and Firemen call themselves Firemen. I may not have the same venue as some “legit” ones as you say but that doesn’t matter because you don’t care what critics have to say. You have an inner hatred for those who judge film. Well good for you, go spend 10 bucks on whatever you think is good based on a trailer.

Back to spellcheck. I agree totally what made Prime such a great leader was the interaction with the humans. He was the only one out of the Robot’s who landed who was talking and having the patience to deal with humans. Thing that bothered me was the reason why Prime wanted to protect man. He said he saw good in them but the dude just landed. Autobots were basically protectors of the universe. The cops.

With Bay’s style, the movie is like a roller coaster than never slows down to let you catch your breath and take it all in. It’s endless swoops and dives and it’s just exhausting. When the movie DOES slow down it focuses on that lame plot.
I can enjoy a bad film. I actually liked Dead or Alive go figure. Thing is Dead or Alive didn’t insult me with trying to explain a stupid plot. It knew it wasn’t working so focused on giving me something else. Cut 30 min. off Bay’s film and you got gold.

Agreed. The trailers were better than the movie.

Ruben, doctors call themselves doctors because they earned the title. Same with firemen.

The term “critic” is not a title that places you on a higher thinking plane. Anyone has the ability to critique anything. Hence, everybody can be a critic.

Please don’t delude yourself into thinking that just because you proclaimed yourself as a critic, it makes you an authority on film.

I do not have an inner hatred for those who judge film. I read them all the time (again, the legit ones). But I have yet to read anyone who proclaimed himself a critic. There are a gamut of terms they use–culture vulture, film observer, movie buff, contributor–but never critic. And never in a way they position themselves as an authority.

And no, I don’t get my prior opinion on a film solely on trailers. Right now I’m online. I can Wiki, Google or You Tube a film (just like what Mike often does) that catches my fancy.

For me to solely rely on “critics” (especially the self-procalimed ones) or plain trailers robs me the opportunity to make an informed opinion.
