You Will Know Tech Evangelists by the Trail of Dead

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. — Matthew 10:34.

Sacha Chua asks: What does a portfolio for a tech evangelist look like?

I’d say a tech evangelist is in the business of promoting potentially disruptive technologies — indeed, the business of spreading disruption. Thus, a tech evangelist’s portfolio should record the disruption he spreads. Some would call it destruction; so be it. When you show people a better way, those who insist on the old way inevitably get fucked.

A tech evangelist clears a path to the future, cutting down all neo-luddites who dare stand in his way. Like a certain indie rock band, you will know them by the trail of dead.

Ignore the naysayers, Social Media will be the hot topic in 2007. The rush into Web 2.0 will be ugly and fraught with danger for many who are jumping onto the bandwagon without a clear knowledge of what and why they are doing it. But there is hope.
