Unlocked HTC G1, Blackberry Bold, and Blackberry Storm

I was strolling along SM Megamall Cyberzone yesterday when I came across a store selling unlocked HTC G1 (the first Google Android phone), Blackberry Bold, and Blackberry Storm handsets. Apparently, they were purchased with plans in the States, unlocked from their respective carriers, and brought over to the Philippines. Fortunately for all of us, unlocking cellphones is exempt from DRM anticircumvention laws, and thus perfectly legal.

The G1 goes for PhP 34,500 ($733.88), the Bold for PhP 44,500 ($946.60), and the Storm for PhP 52,500 ($1,116.78). Yes, those prices sound pretty high — but these units amount to specialty imports in the Philippines. Just like most people outside the US, Filipinos prefer Nokia handsets. iPhone fanboys are (thankfully) few and far between.

The store is named Infomax, and they have seven branches in Manila: SM Megamall, Makati Park Square 1, Greenhills Theatermall, Trinoma, Star Mall, V-Mall, and Market Market.

    G1 Phone for Php 34,500?

G1 Phone in the US for retail is only $499 or Php 24,451 (P49 exchange rate, plus 2K to openline it)

If they bought it from T-mobile it would only be $149 plus $200 termination fee or Php 17,101 (P49 exchange rate, plus 2K to openline it)

Though my computation does not include shipping fees, if you know someone in the US, mas makakatipid kayo if you buy G1 phone through them. However, kung ayaw niyo maghintay at ma-hassle, baka nga ok na rin bumili from them.

    My question: Paano ang warranty?
