Lockheed Martin Tests Multiple Kill Vehicle

Someone at Lockheed Martin must be a Gundam fan. Their latest missile defense system, the MKV-L Multiple Kill Vehicle, intercepts multiple warheads using the same autonomous weapon concept as Gundam 00 GN Fangs. All you’d have to do is put lasers on the kill weapons, and they’d be right out of the anime.

The prototype MKV-L recently completed a 30-second hover test at Edwards Air Force Base, tracking a target at 23 feet. If it looks menacing just hovering in midair, imagine how it will look with its kill weapons deployed.

At least to this Gundam-fan’s mind, it’s a step closer to having real-life Gundams. But we still have a loooooonngggg way to go. 😉
