Gymnastics Video Earns $27,829

Metacafe paid one million dollars to video creators in its first year of sharing revenue. Interestingly enough, the top earner is a three-minute gymnastics demo, raking in $27,829. By contrast, the runner-up earned just $9,656.

I see a trend emerging here. The most-viewed YouTube video of all time is Evolution of Dance. I guess poetry in motion is a hit inside online video — and with online video advertising expected to grow 53.2% in 2008, a potentially profitable hit.

Gymnasts and dancers, ready your cameras. Just don’t use copyrighted music, or the record labels will make sure you can never profit from your creativity.

Galacticast Protests Canadian DMCA

Even though they’ve broken up, it’s good to see they can still work together for a common cause. The original Galacticast duo protests the looming Canadian DMCA with a nod to A Christmas Carol. Dig the Star Wars and Donnie Darko references.

The American DMCA is a terrible piece of legislation, horribly skewed towards the corporate interests of offline media. It’s so bad, it’s been steadily taken apart over time. May other countries never pass such a stupid law.
