Japanese gamer Shoko Nakagawa did not become her country’s otaku queen until she was 20. By that standard, Filipina gamer Alodia Gosiengfiao is ahead of schedule. Happy 20th birthday, Edjie!

All forms of media contribute to the global conversation — and by licensing her work via Creative Commons, this girl contributes her prodigious talent in spades. She’s one of the few young artists in the Philippines who understands that, in the digital world, abundance leads to value. Happy 19th birthday to one of my favorite photographers, Tricia Gosingtian.

The one thing I didn’t like about attending the Philippine Science High School was how utterly boring the girls’ uniforms were. I remember one girl trying to funk it up with a black choker and clunky shoes, but you can only take cream brown so far.

The Japanese sailor fuku should become the standard girls’ uniform in Philippine schools. When you see Filipina gamer Alodia Gosiengfiao and photographer Tricia Gosingtian dress up as schoolgirls, you know it’s the best way to go.
