Maria Ozawa usually projects great confidence and vivacity in most of her movies, so I was startled to see her humiliated to the point of tears in one of her latest films. She looks so vulnerable you just want to hug her.

Most Japanese idols aren’t exactly known for their thespic range, instead developing and portraying one well-defined character. Maria seems to be an exception.

In case you thought Japanese otaku idol Shoko Nakagawa was limited to doing only really old or really new anime themes, here she is doing something in between: 1/2, the second opening theme to Rurouni Kenshin. Her trademark pink nunchucks make an appearance in this video.

She’s staying loyal to her niche, but she’s diversifying within that niche. Check out Japanese otaku idol Shoko Nakagawa’s latest anime theme, Snow Tears. It’s certainly more soulful than her previous singles.
