There is a theory that they're just clones, kinda of like the eyes for Tieria/Veda. Also, apparently the finally word from the director is that Ribbons is dead. Also I highly doubt Ribbons will be back for the movie. It kind of defeats the purpose of the awesome battle in the finale and would be so repetitive.
