Nvidia is best known for GeForce, a series of powerful 3D graphics chips beloved by hardcore gamers. That's why they surprised everyone at the Mobile World Congress by announcing that their combined CPU/GPU chip will power a $99 HD mobile Internet device.

    “I don’t know how much of a difference HD will make on such a small screen, but at $99 I’m not complaining.”

    So NVidia chose to go in between smartphones and laptops. A wise on their part and a “consumer satisfying” decision.

      I’m just amazed they can offer a miniaturized 3G 3D-accelerated HD device for $99. Either they’re willing to lose money to enter the mobile space, or they’ve got some serious voodoo going on in their chip fabs.
