L: Change the World

It’s coming to the US in 2009, so let’s set everyone’s expectations straight. L: Change the World, the third Death Note movie, is riddled with plot holes big enough to drive a truck through. For L fans, though, that doesn’t matter. Ken’ichi Matsuyama’s encore portrayal of the adorably geeky detective delivers a satisfying requiem for an awesome character.

Forget the rest of the film: just watch it to empathize with the titular character. Death Note is a cerebral franchise — but to enjoy this installment, you’ll have to turn off your brain and turn on your warm/fuzzy feeling parts. L couldn’t save this movie, but he certainly saved his legacy.
