U Mobile Ads Worth Only a Penny

U Mobile

Juned Sunido points out that each ad from U Mobile will give customers only 50 centavos (~$0.01) of prepaid load. To even approach the ad-suppported monthly load cap of PhP350, a customer would need to receive twenty-three ads a day.

The world’s most successful ad-supported cellular service, Blyk, gives customers PhP528.75 worth of monthly service for viewing up to six ads a day. At this rate, each ad from Blyk gives customers at least PhP2.93 (~$0.07) worth of service.

U Mobile

The time and effort it takes you to grab your phone and delete an ad is probably worth more than a penny. Unless they offer a better deal, I won’t be switching to U Mobile. That’s too bad — I was genuinely excited about the service.

    I agree with sunday!

As long as umobile subscribers will get FREE load, freebies and other rewards like attending their party! WHY NOT! AND I GOT MY umobile SIM- FREE!

Besides, im sure umobile will send mobile ad messages that i like and can relate to, so NO FUSS on their application even if its too long. I think umobile would just like to know their applicants or future subscribers very well, in order for umobile to send personalized mobile ads based on their profile.

Now we’re talking about personal touch!

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I would have to say that you did the math correctly but there’s something WRONG with the logic of your point. A bias analysis I would have to say.

We are in the philippines, where economic status and cost of living is VERY different from other first world countries such as in europe specifically in UK. - WHICH BASICALLY SUMS IT ALL.

Statements like this, coming from a “Vice-President for Online Services of the Philippine Internet Commerce Society blah blah blah” (if this truly exist) should understand the basis and logic of this comparison.

Pity you, im guessing you are not their target market. Dont be bitter about it.

Actually, I computed the value of Blyk’s ad-supported services at Philippine rates.

U Mobile uses your personal information to sell highly targeted advertising, for which they can charge advertisers a very high premium.

Despite that, they give you only a penny per ad.
