Filipino MMA Fighters
Tags: Justin-Cruz | Lino-Tagacay | martial-arts | MMA | Philippines | SportsEven though I’m six feet tall, I could never understand why Filipinos love basketball. Our players are shorter than Western players. It must be colonial mentality. As Manny Pacquiao demonstrates, we’re so much better at beating the shit out of people.
That’s why I was glad to see Filipino mixed martial artists Justin Cruz and Lino Tagacay duke it out at the Platinum Ring of Fire MMA event yesterday. Cruz finished the fight in one round. Clearly, Filipinos could stand a fighting chance in this sport.

Actually, I’d like to take out Sherk. Its one of the bad things about MMA which steroid abuse is not necessarily regulated. Personally, I don’t think it helps completely but its also how naturally talented the fighter is.
My typo on Vera as well. He was on 8 win streak, not a ten-win streak. But that proves that with dedication that even pinoys can make a big name for themselves in the world of MMA.

CoCa: Wow, you really know your MMA. Yes, Brandon Vera definitely proves that Filipinos can excel in this sport.
Anonymous: Anyone who seeks a fistfight in a mall is a fool.

i wouldn’t be surprised if cruz’s parents are filipino since many filipino ex-patriots move to guam

your comment about basketball is just like saying - why does mongolia have a soccer team? people like the sport… not because it’s colonial mentality. spain didn’t even invent basketball, you dummy.
who created boxing - does that mean most countries that have boxers also have colonial mentality?
plus, you should check the philippine national basketball roster - even at 6′, you’d be one of the shortest. you’re probably a slob…
