Me as Kuno by Ian Cang
Behold The Blue Thunder of Furinkan High! Thanks to Ian Cang for excellently reinterpreting me as the proud samurai Tatewaki Kuno from the classic anime Ranma 1/2 at the AME Gakuensai anime convention. He also reinterpreted two of my friends as Tekken girls, much to their delight.
Ian’s one of the people behind Mangaholix, a Philippine anime/manga/gaming magazine that just came out of nowhere six months ago to achieve instant popularity in a tough market. Of course, Filipina gamer Alodia Gosiengfiao’s endorsement certainly doesn’t hurt. Go check it out.
Now if you will excuse me, I must go woo Akane and the pigtailed girl.

So it was the famous Mr. Mike Abundo afterall XD If I got it right you’re the one who approached as a while ago terrified/curious/amazed of my friend’s “flatform shoes”. LMAO. well as she said, there were no magic tricks.
But despite of being at least 6feet tall, she wasn’t able to spot Ms. Gosiengfiao. Which is, well, sad. Hope we’d see her in MOA tho. ^^
I also went to the event. I cosplayed as Yuuichi (from Kanon) there.
Yeah, there were many reactions to Alodia’s no-show written in the “freedom board”.
Kikasa: Dude, those things were huge! I’m six feet tall, but I was afraid she’d step on my shorter friends!
Moonlight: Yeah, I asked Ian about Edj, too. I didn’t get to read the reactions on the freedom board, though. Can you quote some of them here?
Re: the freedom board:
I didn’t get to remember the exact writings, but as far as I know, the reactions vary from disappointment to outright ridicule (sorry, Mike, but I read a reply saying “Alodia is just a spoiled girl hogging for attention”).
Whoa. Yeah, Edj’s haters can get pretty nasty. I’ve been in meetings with media executives venomously dissing her. One hater even built a hate site dedicated to her.
That’s celebrity for you, I guess. Even your mere absence makes waves.
How can you forget Shampoo’s name? Shame on you!
Shampoo? I have eyes only for Akane and the pigtailed girl!
“I have eyes only for Akane and the pigtailed girl!”
Sir Mike, are you talking about the red haired pigtailed girl? If yes, then you’re talking about Ranma in his female form! Actually, I looked at the show’s facts and Ranma’s female form is called “The pigtailed girl” by the Kuno’s.
Still entertaining the conceit that you’re Kuno eh? It’s good to have some sort of anime avatar, although mine seem to have progressed from kind-hearted Keiichi to downright megalomaniacal Lelouch…
Metal, you clearly know your classic anime.
Cliff, it’s all Neil Silva’s fault. He compared me to Kuno while chatting with my friends at the convention. Speaking of anime avatars, check out Light Yagami. While Lulu just wants to throw Japan at his dad, Light wants to become God of the New World. They don’t come much more megalomanic than that.
Sir Mike, what happened there when Alodia didn’t show up at the convention? I hope she didn’t dissed by the populace just to receive a Rider Kick for not showing up. Anyway, I’ll appear at MOA this Sunday, for the Herocon.
MM: I agree with you on that! I watched Ranma many times, even with the re-runs.
Unfortunately, Lusanto, Alodia says she won’t be going to Herocon, either.
about Alodia, a friend told me that he’d seen her transport parked somewhere in front of Ang Bahay ng Alumni. And if i remember it right, he said he even talked to her driver. Turns out, she was there, but decided not to go inside o__O
Really? That’s weird.
Hope she wasn’t avoiding some crazed fan. If found, that person would be marked for death.
Speculation aside, I’m sure she has her reasons. Let’s just respect that.
To Kikasa: Just to clear things up. I never stepped foot any where near Bahay ng Alumni that day. I was busy the whole day at home.
Thanks for clearing that up, Alodia. You may have just averted a bloody manhunt.
to Alodia: thanks for clearing that up *sweatdrops* I must’ve misheard what my friend said. he must’ve been talking about another person’s transport back then but I was busy doin something and didn’t realize we’ve already shifted to another topic. thanks for that ^_^
Hm. Turns out she is going to Herocon, Lusanto.
I’m going to a PICS party in Ortigas tonight, and a b5media party at Serendra tomorrow night. Since Edj is one of my favorite young bloggers, I’ll put in a good word for her Herocon booth.
Hey, Moonlight, I just saw a photo of the AME Gakuensai Freedom Wall. You’re right — people did miss Alodia.
Guess they all went to Herocon.
