GMA Teenifies Lupin, Rips Off Sailormoon, Indiana Jones, Lara Croft

For years, ailing Philippine TV network GMA has gotten away with blatantly insulting the intelligence of the lower classes with their tasteless drama and fantasy offerings. This year, that strategy will backfire.

First, they give the classic role of Lupin III to a kid far too young and inexperienced to play the globetrotting noble scoundrel. Richard Gutierrez is way out of his depth here. It’s like having Justin Timberlake portray James Bond. Even the unwashed masses of this third-world country have long held expectations of Lupin’s look and feel; there’s no way a kid like Richard could deliver on those.

Second, they literally stuff two girls into Sailormoon costumes and call them Super Twins. Even starving shanty-dwellers of this third-world country know who Sailormoon is.

Third, they send Robin Padilla and Angel Locsin in Indiana Jones and Lara Croft costumes to chase Asian Treasures. Wow, a blatant double knockoff of two global pop culture icons — GMA’s getting extreme with that one.

I’m a big cosplay fan, but this is just stupid. If you heap insult upon insult on your audience’s intelligence, no matter how ignorant your particular audience may be, you eventually reach a point where they actually feel insulted. If an alternative is popular with your audience (in the case of Philippines, YouTube), and that alternative amplifies your audience’s intelligence instead of insulting it, chances are they’ll ditch you for that alternative.

The point at which enough of their core audience feels sufficiently insulted could become the tipping point for the fall of Philippine TV. What a great way to greet the New Year.

  1. Lol, pinoys, support your fellow Filipinos instead of judging them quickly! The show haven’t even started yet and all we hear is that Pinoys know nothing but to “imitate”, “copy” and “rip-off”?

Someone even said that the foreigners or the international community will look down upon the Filipinos because of GMA 7 “copycat” shows, like c’mon…

Before anyone of us Filipinos say that its nothing but a “copy”, “imitation” or “rip-off” of some other country’s show, let’s go digg and do a little research shall we?

I will repeat this, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and even the US of A all did it before and are continually doing it.

We Filipinos are so quick to say that “we copied this from the US” when it was in fact the other way around.

Plain BS and crab-mentality attitude again. Kaya hindi umaasenso ang pinoy, puro kontra ang alam.

Watch it first from beginning to end before you judge or “criticize” it.

    Sheesh…

  2. There’s creativity building on the past, there’s bringing new concepts to new audiences, and then there’s just monkey-see-monkey-do. Super Twins and Asian Treasures are clearly monkey-see-monkey-do. They’re classic examples of cargo cult marketing — copying form to substitute for substance.

At least Tia Carrere didn’t actually dress like Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider ripoff Relic Hunter.

  3. [...] Before the world associates Filipina actress Angel Locsin with her unfortunate role as a retarded Lara Croft clone, let me do the girl a favor and feature a slideshow of her photos on Flickr. [...]

  4. Also, the casting of Richard Gutierrez as Lupin clearly sacrifices authenticity in favor of cookie-cutter thinking (”Young audience? Young actor!”). As Jerry Polence pointed out to me just now, sassy Filipino comedian Vic Sotto would make a far more convincing Lupin.

  5. hey mike i think you’re entitled to your own opinion i take no offense and right copying is not only done here what i’m really looking for is substance besides i don’t see them really copying lara croft(still hoping)honestly i watch gma shows mainly if angel’s in them i think she can be way better but probably our local networks just lack creativity that’s why to copy or not has somehow lowered my expectations in them and it’s not angel’s fault that if you’re young, pretty and talented like her there’s really not much to expect nowadays from the gods of this business so sad but true

  6. That’s the problem, we are not yet sure, in Richard’s case of taking the role “Lupin” if it’s really about “Lupin 3rd”.

You see, everyone said Vic Sotto will best fit “Lupin 3rd” role. I will agree, it will be more fun and funny, but again I pointed it out time and again that the show is about “Lupin” not “Lupin 3rd”, if I understood it correctly, it is about Lupin 3rd’s grandfather.

I don’t know if Lupin 3rd told us in one of the episodes or manga that his grandfather is “as funny as he is (Lupin 3rd), but I remember Lupin 3rd saying that he’s trying to defeat his grandfather’s reputation as the greatest thief of all time.

So, if GMA’s “Lupin” is indeed Lupin 3rd’s grandfather, then certainly, Vic Sotto will not fit that role, and Richard will be one (if not the only) of option.

And again, how can we judge a show that hasn’t even started yet? How can we say that it has no “substance”? Have you watched the show already?

You see, that’s entirely my point, I blogged about it first (dated Dec. 30), posted it in various forums as well, but so far, there are only, what, 2 to 4 forums where the pinoys understood “when” to criticize GMA about their three new primetime shows.

  7. “Good artists copy. Great artists steal.” Pablo Picasso

  8. @john - when Capt. Barbell was announced, I was like.. “AWESOME! A MILLION PESO COSTUME FROM THE GUY WHO GAVE BATMAN NIPPLES!!”. But when the pilot episode aired, instead of awing over the new Captain Barbell, I was just, “HUH?! Smallville?”. The red truck, the best friend turned enemy, etc. They’re all obvious copies that had an impact on every Smallville fan. And the hype of the show went no where. The million peso costume was clearly not suited with Richard’s neck, head and crotch. Even Herbert Bautista, who also played Capt. Barbell a few years ago and a Smallville fan, criticized the way Captain Barbell’s story was altered and patterned from Smallville.

Don’t get me wrong. I only criticize when there’s something obvious. Look at Super Inggo, the concept of Super Inggo’s Power Academy can be compared to Harry Potter’s Hogwart’s and the group of Pinoy Super Heroes teaming together can be compared to Justice League. But it all stops there. The writers manage to project a new image over concepts that have been done before and create a new, original and engaging storyline that even an adult would find entertaining. You won’t even see the traces of Justice League and Hogwart’s.

There’s Iza Calzado and Dingdong Dantes’ movie, Moments of Love. Its concept was obviously similar to a Korean movie, Il Mare. Whether the writers got the idea from Il Mare or not, they managed to change the idea a little bit. The main factor on Iza’s movie was a telephone linked to the future, instead of a mailbox that was used in Il Mare. The thought of Rip-off was there, but the changed of storyline made it one of the best Filipino movies made.

Encantadia, Etheria, Mulawin, Krystala, Zsa Zsa Zaturnah, Pedro Penduko have great plots too that can be really called their own.

But Super Twins is different. By just merely staring at Nadine Samonte and Jennylyn Mercado on the teasers, what movie/series first popped into your heads? Sailor Moon, right? I don’t need to watch that series from start to finish just to give my opinion because whatever story they write or create for Super Twins, everyone who has watched Sailor Moon every Sunday on ABC-5 a decade ago will always think of Sailor Moon. And those same people will remember Super Twins as two girls wearing Sailor Moon costumes.

The same with Asian Treasures, why use the outfits of 2 of the most popular icons of adventure on Robin Padilla and Angel Locsin? With the same storyline (adventure, relics, treasures, etc.). But I still have high hopes for this series though. Most adventurers around wear ALMOST exact copies of Lara Croft and Indiana Jones’ costumes. But still, Angel Locsin’s pose on their teasers closely resembles Lara Croft.

And about Lupin. Since GMA-7 may have bought the license to create a live action series, I don’t care whatever they want to do with the character. Make him gay, dress him like Robin Hood, give him a talking dog as sidekick, or make him an ogre like Shrek… I DON’T CARE. As long as the story is good and original, I will support and promote it all the way. The very idea of Filipinos producing the very first live action series of a popular Japanese cartoon is already an achievement that we could be proud of. But as Jerry Polence had said, Vic Sotto would have been the perfect guy for the role.

Ummm… Maybe I’ll still watch Super Twins and screencap every frame whenever they transform. Watyatink?

  9. The rip-offs doesn’t end there! Even our music community is suffering from rip-offs. Die Toni Gonzaga! Hehehe..anyway, have you seen the teaser of “Sana Maulit Muli”? featuring the-guy-from-pbb and the girl-who-won-pbb The movie “If Only” is written all over it. Come on, the second chance, resurrection from the dead, that weird old guy talking about last chances. I just laughed when I saw the teaser. “Another rip-off for the filipino audiences”

  10. @jepoy, see that’s my point. Just because we were disappointed in the past, we already think that every other projects they will do next will be a disappointment.

The issue here is not “I got disappointed after watching the pilot episode” or “it’s all about SailorMoon costume everywhere”. We were discussing about the three upcoming teleseryes of GMA over at egames forums for one and wrote and clarified my stand on this matter on my blog.

I said it myself (before your reply here), I don’t like Captain Barbell and Atlantika to mention a few, and I like Majika, Encantadia, etc.

I even said (again before your reply here) that people will just watch Super Twins mainly for the “transformation” aspect of it - the sexy SailorMoon costumes - no more and no less. I even gave a dialogue example of how the ‘general’ Filipino people will react to Super Twins, so don’t bother screenshoting them, coz we discussed it already :p

See where I’m going? The issue is many Filipinos all over the world are easily dismissing new Filipino projects just because it was made by a Filipino, by a TV Network that is failing already because “YouTube is huge in the Philippines”, we all already know that, we all already know that Lupin - officially licensed to GMA, Super Twins - loosely based from SailorMoon, and Asian Treasures - mix of Indiana Jones and Lara Croft Tomb Raider, are “copied”, “ripped-off”, whatever you want to call it. It’s a given fact and there’s no point discussing it - I mean, isn’t it still obvious from the GMA teaser trailers?

And so if Super Twins’ costume was taken from SailorMoon? But what if the storyline is original?

Then there is also the issue that many Filipinos are saying when we are NOT the only one’s doing this “copying” of other shows. Singaporeans did it, Taiwanese did it, the Chinese did it, Australians, Kiwis, even the Americans.

That is my point in this argument, why keep bashing or judge a show that is still to be aired?

I don’t care if you don’t like Captain Barbell, coz I don’t like it either, just like you, I was very disappointed when I watched the pilot episode. But as I continue to watch the show, I saw that they changed the way they present their storyline - just like Moments of Love.

It’s the story that matters here. The story is the substance. They can copy Power Rangers, Mask Rider Black, Sadako, Titanic, name it, if the story is good, if the way they presented their version is good, that makes it good, otherwise it is “just another” copy.

After watching the series, I can now give an unbias opinion of the show, the writers of the show, and the whole team.

You see, I pre-judged many of GMA and ABS-CBN productions and I ate most of what I said about their shows, I learned from it so I don’t pre-judge anymore. I will watch it first, even if I skip a few episodes here and there, then that’s when I will give my opinion - not when I still don’t know what it is all about.

Yeah, let’s go back to Super Twins, everyone will think about SailorMoon, well, not really everyone, only those who watched anime will be familiar with the Super Twins costumes. In other words, their market here is not us who are familiar with SailorMoon but those who don’t.

Then again we will go around back to the substance. It is just a costume. If DC will allow us to copy and create a ripped-off Superman’s costume and we’ll be able to do it very well or be at par with Superman, hey, that’s something. But pre-judging it that it was a ripped-off of Superman’s costume and thus is not worth your TV time is something that I (and others) don’t like with today’s Filipino people.

I already said it again and again, and Filipinos love it too: Don’t judge the book by its cover.

But the foreigners will say this instead: “If you don’t like it then don’t watch it, or better create your own version.” (Which I don’t really agree.)

    PS
You - refers to the general public who pre-judged GMA’s new shows (and ABS-CBN for that matter), NOT to “you, as in you”.

So please don’t be mistaken that I’m attacking ‘you’ or anyone else ‘individually’. I am talking about today’s Pinoy attitude.

  11. When I saw the trailer for the 3 new GMA shows (which has a pretty kickass music btw), I was mildly appalled to see Richard as Lupin. I mean if I can recall Lupin was a wisecrack funny kind of guy, and I thought casting Richard was a poor choice. I have to say that Richard’s past roles were not very diverse. His role seems to be always the archetype soft-spoken heroic figure. I mean is this guy even has a knack for comedy? But then I saw this on wiki:

“The series is not a live action serialization of the Japanese anime Lupin III as earlier announced, but rather an attempt to introduce an entirely Filipino master thief character inspired by the original French thief character.”

So if this is true then my preconceived notions about this upcoming show were pretty much shattered. And with this they can take the show in whichever direction they want. I think the show got a potential. It all boils down to execution and how well Richard can handle his role, and yeah of course the plot ( I hope they throw in some elaborate thieving sequence). SO yeah it’s too early to judge the show, rumors it’s bound to air March 2007.

As for Super Twins, it’s about as subtle as sledgehammer to the forehead. And it might not only be talking about Sailormoon here, it could be the Wonder Twins too (you know those rings each of them has, the rings makes contact with each other, they chant something and voila).. LOL. With this blatant ripoff (of costumes anyway) it would be hard to take this show seriously. I know I shouldn’t be judging the show with it’s costumes, but I doubt they could cook up something original or innovative in terms of story. Well it’s just me, but I am so done with superheroes atm..

As with Asian Treasures, why copy the exact costumes of two of the most recognizable adventure heroes? They are clearly insulting the audience’s intelligence. I reckon they could still make the show work without resorting to cheap tactics like this.. I mean Robin and ANgel are competent performers not to mention popular enough and the adventure theme has always been accessible. So why? Well this is my only reservation for the show, I’d probably watch this. I hope they pull this one right…

  12. sorry but let’s stop fooling ourselves like when was the last time we were able to produce a really good show? i’m watching asian mainly because it’s angel so my care to bother two cents worth would probably be just dress her up like the hot babe that she is and look gorgeous all the time. just make this asian cool and btw i’ve seen the latest clips i love her moves hope they just keep it up.fast pacing and maybe interesting? treasure hunting?

  14. “The very idea of Filipinos producing the very first live action series of a popular Japanese cartoon is already an achievement that we could be proud of”

blah! Sailormoon was already turned into a live action series back in ‘04 by Japan. And don’t forget your beloved Meteor Garden was also an anime and manga before it was a live action soap opera.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4RZAVd2PR8

  15. @john - How can you not dis something that openly insult people who’ve followed, watched, and loved (and drooled) Sailor Moon for the past years? I’ve watched the anime when I was a kid and downloaded the entire fansub of its live action series 2 years ago. And believe me, when I saw the Super Twins trailer, WTF?!

True, we’re not their target audience and not everyone will recognize the costumes but, have you been to Divisoria and Wet Markets? Knock-off Sailor Moon merchandises are everywhere. So don’t expect the kids to even fall for GMA-7’s lack of originality.

If you’re really after the “substance”, they could have just made the costume a little pinoy or unique. The Sailor Fuku is not even within limits of our culture and is and has already been associated with the britons and japanese.

Sailor Moon is way different with Superman. Superman has what? A Cape? Wears his underwears over his pants? Weakness on certain elements? These are ideas that can be copied and twisted to re-create a new hero. But with the Sailor Moon costumes? Give me a break. I’ve said it already and I’ll say it again, whatever story they will place on Super Twins, it will and will always be remembered in history as a Sailor Moon knock-off.

It’s only a costume you say? That costume has already established a global image as the Sailor Moon costumes. C’mon, this is the internet age. Once a viewer posts a recorded copy of a single episode of Super Twins on YouTube, what reactions would you expect from Sailor Moon fans around the globe? Would you even dare to say, “hey that’s not sailormoon, we have a new story…”

    Duuuh?

And what would Sailor Moon cosplayers feel when little kids see them on shows and shout, “MOMMY!!! IT’S THE SUPER TWINS!!”

Anyway, showbiz is still business. Ala Paredes once said on my blog, “…Yes, they do want to entertain and help, but in the end showbusiness is still a business. TV stations want to make money and stay on top, most especially ABS and GMA. They wouldn’t entertain and help these poor people if the network and the hosts weren’t benefitting from it also. Ganon lang talaga, and that’s really how it works….” So stop hoping or giving them chances as they were all long overdue. It’s 2007 and we can’t even rival Bioman’s special effects.

PS. Mike quoted me as the source of this entry, so my comments are all based on his entry and mine. I cannot open your site as of the moment so I really don’t know what you’re discussing on the forums. Destiny’s IPL still sucks. And this reply should have been posted 2 days ago.

@yubnub - you might try to re-read my comments again as I was referring to Lupin and not Sailor Moon. And you may also try to click the link Mike has provided as his source to see that I HAVE the ENTIRE fansub of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (that’s the common term for the live action btw), including the special releases. And I was watching it only a week delayed per episode in 2003. Blah!

Tama ka. I’d like to elaborate it though.

Not a live action serialization but introduce a Filipino master thief character inspired by the original French thief character? Uhhmmmn…. let’s see… Filipino master thief? I imagine the character scaling the PBCom tower (Manila’s highest bldg?) to get some very precious object, uhmmm… I don’t know what a master thief would be going after that’s being stashed here in the Philippines. I imagine the character sneaking in at night to do that, uhm… trying to go through the manhole of the elevator to evade suspicion and eyewitness. uhmmnnn… what else? using sophisticated devices or probably explosives? Riding away with a very cool car? Anybody who’s in office knows or someone with money knows that they do not have to do it themselves, here in the Philippines, it’s so easy to pay someone else to do the job for you. Heck, we know a lot of names who just pays poor Filipinos to do the job for them. And on the sneaking in and scaling tall buildings? It’s not needed, it’s so easy to social engineer your way into any office or building.

    @john

Their market is probably our less-informed or less-fortunate fellowmen? should we just allow them to continually insult a fellow Filipino? Rip-off or not, the point is the “creative” people behind the show are NOT CREATIVE!

And for the Indiana Jones and Lara Croft custome rip-off only goes to prove that the “creativity” has a new meaning. Filipina adventurer wearing a little more than a skimpy short and still have those smooth and well-shaped legs? I don’t think so…

There is an active discussion in the Philippine blogosphere about GMA 7’s 2007 TV (live-action) series since December 30, 2006, which was first posted here on gameshogun.ws 8:00pm of that day, after which the local blogosphere picked it up.

  20. I’ve watched enough GMA shows to say that at least these current lineups are not very creative, or even well thought in the concept. I even have more reason that Richard plays Lupin as means for him to have screen time as opposed to playing the part competently enough. Plus when I think Lupin, I think of someone who has more of an elastic face… as means of being able to convincingly pull off many disguises. Richard still looks like Richard even if you dress him like a clown.

As of the super twins… maybe if they were cosplayers it won’t seem so over the top. But still corny and cheesy none the less than what they try to convey as ‘groundbreaking’ of a concept.

Asian Treasure as much as it is also a copy-cat than a homage, may succeed with all the fancy explosions and short term chase scenes. But don’t expect much substance and depth either.

Grant it there isn’t much creativity in copying, but at least make it look novel.

  25. they should always put a disclaimer before the show starts for kids not to confuse facts from fiction.

  26. speaking of fact from fiction on the GMA show Super twins.

their official website says the twins power comes from a metal from a phenomenon called St. Elmo’s Fire… “It is an old myth that the sun, with its intense heat, carries unbelievable power. This power is contained in a metallic stone which is in turn inside a ball of fire called St. Elmo’s Fire”.

this is what Wykopedia says otherwise:

St. Elmo’s fire is an electroluminescent coronal discharge caused by the ionization of the air during thunderstorms inside of a strong electric field. Although referred to as “fire”, St. Elmo’s fire is in fact a low density, relatively low temperature plasma. Physically, St. Elmo’s fire is a bright blue-white glow, appearing like fire in some circumstances, often in double or triple jets, from tall, sharply pointed structures such as masts, spires and chimneys, and on aircraft wings.

It is named such because the phenomenon commonly occurs at the mastheads of ships during thunderstorms at sea, and St. Elmo is the patron saint of sailors. It is not the same phenomenon as ball lightning, although they are possibly related.

Im a fan of GMA 7 but this time the facts seems fictional.

  30. lol.

  31. not the GMA nor the artist itself, its all about the STUPID writers who doesn’t even create a single piece of their so called “Art of Writing”. we can’t even feel the impact of their talents. someone’s paying them for their talent and creativity and yet they’ve not doing their jobs. (stupid writers). and here we are stripping and Riffing ourselves off, isn’t us. it’s all in the hand of those Stupid and ambitious mallrats writers. and now who do you even think selling our pride and dignity for some small cash and sh*tless talent fee, i wonder how they’ve got to the business itself. the question is who the hell set our standards among this oldcraps in philippine TV and Movie industry? the answer is, the Producers and Writers. they’re aiming for greatness and yet they’ve fail, producers are afraid to cash-in or pulled out a big budget film. so the writers get in, copying and imitates are their jobs. pissing us all is their talents. they were disecting us right from the beginning and selling our pride to the global community. and guess what, some other country are now feel free to burn our flags and faces among the other nations. writers and politicians are the same… bullsh*tting us, is there business. thats the whole idea. 33. hahaha! ako mismo napanood ko yung buong series ng Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live action). magandang maganda ang storya nun. pero pagdating sa Super Twins, even my 4-year old niece loathed the Sailor Moon wannabe series. natawa lang ako kasi naging kalaban si “Tuxedo Mask” sa Super Twins.

Supposedly, after a week since the show premier, dapat lumabas na yung mga mismong mga bida (the Super Twins in costume) tulad nung nangyayari sa iba ring shows sa GMA. pero as of now, one week nang pinapalabas ang show yet wala pa akong nakikitang ni isang Super Twin. mukhang dini-delay yata yung show?? hehehe…

  34. Comment ko rin ito sa Captain’s Log blog:

Baka balang araw, gagawa ang GMA ng isang live-action Doraemon ripoff called Doraymee. Pero ide-deny ng GMA sa presscon na ripoff ito ng Doraemon. Doraymee would just be a story about a little schoolgirl called Doray, who has a very inventive talking cat named Mee. Doray will explore the world with Mee like never before: with the help of the sound of music! Original story!

His name is Bobito!! Last quarter explosion!!

  37. Hey thanks for this, found your spot on google. Hay, remember the kick-ass days of Mulawin? Before that I wasn’t even watching local channels na because of their stupid shows but the eagle-man changed all that. I thought everything is turning for the better. That is until GMA got scared of giving Richard a break. I swear I just immerse myself with cable now. But Lupin? Yeah I’ll be watching this show closely, but this time I’m a lot more jaded. Btw, the writers of GMA should all be fired, my e-mail spams I receive are more original than them.

  38. I have just watched the pilot of GMA 7’s “Lupin”,it’s quite impressive for a local show, but then again only the first few episodes are this grand.Come next month and you’ll see obvious(if not drastic) changes on their props, locations etc.

Richard Gutierrez is not even FUNNY!!(save Janno Gibbs)

THE FILIPINO AUDIENCE DESERVES MORE THAN THIS!!

  39. asus! cosplay fan my ass!

  40. lupin is a ripoff of lupin III the same way lupin III is a ripoff of france’s original lupin. wtf! watch cable and shut the hole in your face. haha

  41. and yeah. maybe you totally forgot about abs-cbn teenyfying panday to flopdome. LOL

  44. let’s admit it. pinoys aren’t big on originality. our movies nor their themes haven’t really improved. we’re still doing caricature fantasy-action, sentimental family drama, horror-fantasy. our storylines, abused as they are, are so mababaw that we rip off the stories of others. no, there’s nothing exciting about making a few adjustments here and there with the stories of others and presenting it as something exciting for the filipino viewer. pwede ba. the filipino has a rich storytelling tradition but pinoy tv and film hasnt even scratched it. nor does it bother to. happy na kasi tayo sa pakopyakopya. we even think it’s something to be proud of. it’s symptomatic of a severe lack of imagination and creativity. how sad.

so much for ‘trying’ to stomach the crappy rip-offs. Shaider slash Zaido’s the last straw. (but i loathed them when they took on Lupin)

di nila kayang panagutan yung mga kinopya nila. shempre bilang fan ng ORIGINAL works, sino ba naman hindi iinit ang ulo??!

If you think that’s bad take a look at this fucken TFC [abs-cbn]. They have taken copyright game shows such as “Deal or no Deal” Pretty shitty as they only put celebrities on the game show, show “1 versus 100” Taken in Australia [latest Intel] , “Big Brother” Australia and UK, “You can dance” > all them stupid versions copyright from Americas “So you think you can dance”. At least GMA is way better than this shitty TFC [abs - cbn] GETTING ANNOYED TFC!
    International Programming Issues!
I am a Filipino. Your getting to boring the only reason I am keeping you is the NEWS!, Crappy Commercials, Boring Movies - Rarely good one, Always Fucken PG, 45min - 1.5hrs to get to a movie, Too many repeats of the same commercial, Ahhh too much exaggeration of a thing you are trying to point out. If you’re trying to make it EPIC you have wasted your time. Limited 4 Channels, At least connect with GMA I am not paying an extra $15 a month to get more channels.

YouTube Question by “Gibralter9” in youtube.com [her question similar and offensive, cut it down could not be fuck]
If you ask why did you subscribe?

    Response to “Gibralter9” in youtube.com

I thought the I did not know the content and my parents says that the shows was cool and I need to know what’s going on instead of keeping on asking my cousin what’s going on back there. I am already in this shitty service, and cannot cancel due to share with some assfags room mates. As voted by parents to want to view it when they come over my house to keep this TFC Crap, this is my only connection to get half of the shit on whets going on there. Mainly “THE NEWS DUMBSHIT IS IMOPORTANT” that’s all what I am after. The other content service and entertainment package is a total rip for me. But then again I got to live with this shit!

This is a rip off to me and mostly other users in this service.
“My Point - Improve entertainment, unlock more channel content to this service with normal fix price per month”

When you have this shitty service you will get annoyed to. Guaranteed otherwise you are one of them poor suck up bitches there is who enjoy poor quality on everything they have.

  61. Fuck Asian Pride ShitNo Gravatar on November 28th, 2007 at 7:40 pm

    TFC you have FAILED
    You took copyright material
You make no improvements to the show
You only use celebrities on gameshows which nobody gives a real fuck about them [I am talking about us international subsribers]
    Crappy fantasy films
Its 2007 no improvement in visual effects in movies or TV series
Too many Fucken Love shows that tells bestically the same story but with different cast
You introduced more channels which us members who subscibe needs to subscribe again to get the content, we paid 4 it so we deserve more channels and entertainment in out packages because the price you charge is basically the same as FOX here in Australia. I want to change to that but fuck I need the FUCKEN NEWS!

    Fucken TFC rip off

  62. Hello F(bleep!) Asian Pride Sh*t! Wow, sa sobrang galit mo, namamali na spelling mo sa ibang words–chill, man! Chill!
Anyway, yes, it’s true that the local programs here are getting crappier by the minute.
    Amen to that.

Yeah but my service did not come 4 free, I got 2 pay top dollar to get a limited of 4 stupid channels and some chinese and muslim show, shit I got to pay $64 to get some channels while in Foxtel I can get more with $34 a month + more channels. If Foxtel suppot some TV stations there in the Philippines well FUCK YOU TFC I am going back to foxtel instead.

Incorrect spelling no exsaggeration slander: Fucken, Shitty , Newbie = Newfag etc.
Slander exsaggeration used to make comment interesting. As well as being in a community in 4chan.org

  64. hahahaha then terminate your TFC subscription you shit cunt.

These are ALL licensed shows from endemol and you just can’t make improvements or altercations to any of them without persmission. And BTW, it’s been ages since we all know that these are just copyrighted shows.

  65. Fuck Asian Pride ShitNo Gravatar on December 12th, 2007 at 6:46 am

Ultraman you NEWFAG! Read my previews comments before posting. I said before I cannot terminate it because this the only way I can get the news without going to the internet and wasting my bandwidth. If you can recommend another service here in Australia that supports GMA or other Philippine channels which I can get the news from PLEASE tell me or you GTFO you dumb little shit. Also I don’t give a shit if I said that its copyright over and over again, I want them artist to suffer infringement and TFC to get corrupted or better yet being out something new and improve entertainment and being out more channels because us TFC users feel rip off.

“Again I would take my subsription off if you recommend another service here better then TFC - Location Australia”

Well well, it’s Janshit, I mean Janshin! Wow! What a stupid response from a stupid Kapusod asswipe! C’mon, aren’t you tired defending them because of what they did to the originals? You don’t have the right to lambast Mr. Abundo and at the same time, you don’t have the right to lambast me because I criticize Zaidork makes you think I’m a Kapatilya! Don’t let me mention your name on my next post on Multiply and if you ever reply to me again, I swear I’ll gonna kick your sorry lame ass around the archipelago before the new year!

And yes, viewership ratings aren’t acceptable in replying to my posts!!!!

  69. hahahahahahaha!!! such a looser, how can u kick ma lame ass around the archipelago ha? ur just like abundo, hehehehehe, always contradicting, ow, yah that’s what loosers do, hehehehehehehe. and the name “janshit” oh i love it so much……. and dont u ever give me such lame threats coz im not afraid, actually, im enjoying that ur angry, hehehehehe.

And thus the faggotty corpophagus of GMA posts again…

    GO TOKUWARRIORS!!

  72. to takesis, u think i didnt understand u? hahahahaha, i dont know if that is an illonggo or ur just a fool trying hard to speak visayan, kasi naman im bisaya kaya hindi po ako kasing ignorante mo……… hahahaha, pity on you takesis….wahahahahaha….and to all of you people here, guess im wrong kasi lahat pala dito ay opposing gma so i’ve decided to stop this foolishness…. this is such a waste of time and also sorry for those people na na offend ko…. hehehehehehehehehehe. pero kung gusto nyo pa kong awayin then go but please lessen ur expectation na mag re reply pa po ako…bye

  73. You know what the problem is, people (and I’m stressing this to both Mr. Janshin and Sir Takesis), why we cannot compromise and understand each other on issues? It’s that we cannot control ourselves to do the snide remarks when we cannot agree on topics. I know that’s the stuff that makes blog comments an enjoying read, but please, if we are really planning to be intellectual critics, let us be civil to both sides. Yes, I have been guilty throwing to the Kapuso fanatics the names “second-rated lifeform” and “worse than cuckoos”, but then again, how could we show the truth that Shaider is way superior (which is an understatement) than the lameshit garbage (again anunderstatement) that is Zaido if we can’t take each other’s frame of minds?

  74. The thing is people stray off the topic and its easy when we resort to hurling insults regarding the big 2 TV stations. Thank god I support neither because parang kelangan may kampihan eh. But fact is that GMA has SHOWN via costume design and concepts that they try HARD to imitate to innovate, but they steal concepts too. I’ll be honest the Lupin is kinda stupid regardless, even if he was suppose to be the FIRST Lupin (as opposed to Lupin the 3rd). It still had too much of the pinoy drama connection. Super Twins … blatant there unless you live under a rock, or in which cases you only view pinoy tv. As of Zaido, c’mon. Anyone who remember watching Shaider knows that 80’s stuff kicks ass whatever Team D. Z. and associates can put out. Escapism my arse. I wouldn’t want to escape in that world of Zaido. At least take me to Jettman or those super sentai of the late 80’s/early 90’s.

Which only proves those who lived through those great times which pinoy TV picked up good stuff from Japan had it great.

To the topic, only online media remains original, unique and creative.

    Amen.

  78. It would be safe to say that Filipinos are the most unoriginal people on the face of this planet. Nearly everything in their consumer market and popular culture are cheap imitations of foreigner creations. Just imagine “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” with stupider contestants and a far less charming host. Think of all the Marvel superheroes minus the significant bad-ass factor. Picture for me, if you could you damn weaboos, how awesome your anime is minus the character development, art direction, and TITS. Filipinos have never come up with anything worthwhile on their own and very likely never will.

Hypocrisy abounds on all 7,107 of those goddamn islands. Filipinos are staunch defenders of the Catholic faith in Asia (or the Pacific Islands, whatever; Filipinos are actually taught in schools that they are asian as the Philippines lies in Southeast Asia just like Indonesia and Malaysia and Vietnam). Despite this, their Ringling Bros. remains to be one of the most corrupt and inefficient in the entire region. Even communist Vietnam has more stability in their Ringling Bros. than these stupid islanders.

Don’t even get me started on second-generation Filipinos here in the United States. (In sociology terms, I’m a 1.5 generation immigrant: born in one country, but raised with the values of another, so I’m nothing like what I’ll be describing). They immerse themselves with nigger culture and adopt their subhuman ways, degrading an already inferior race. They do try to “embrace” their Filipino culture by doing all this cultural shit like learning dances like Tinikling, but that does NOTHING to generate a true sense of appreciation, attachment, or affiinity for what it really means to be Filipino - the love of the motherland.

tl;dr - Filipinos are intellectually unimaginative, morally inconsistent and/or bankrupt, and fail at their own culture.

  79. Spartan John-117 on July 23rd, 2008 at 8:52 am

JC John SESE Cuneta, you are so naive. You don’t have to snort drugs to know it’s bad for your health. You don’t need to watch these shows in its entirety to know they simply suck. Lack of creativity, bad use of Filipino language, corny costume, set design and special effects. Do I need to continue? Richard Gutierrez as Lupin and you think it’s fine? Lupin is hilarious Richard is boooooorrrriiiinnnngggg.
